ZEALANDIA is the world’s first fully-fenced urban ecosanctuary, with an extraordinary 500-year vision to restore a Wellington valley’s forest and freshwater ecosystems as closely as possible to their pre-human state. Set around a picturesque reservoir, ZEALANDIA is home to some of New Zealand's most rare and extraordinary wildlife - all thriving wild in a world-first protected sanctuary.
A Visit Zealandia ticket gives you access to over 32km of tracks where you can spot abundant wildlife among the regenerating forest. You can also check out the indoor exhibition and see a life-size moa, learn about the natural history of New Zealand and understand how Zealandia came to be. Experience the source of the increasing native bird biodiversity in Wellington, while supporting ground-breaking conservation research.
